Mendez will be throwing against the Phillies Monday, and he carries no fantasy value right now. Between starting and relieving at the Double- and Triple-A levels, he's posted a 3.98 ERA over 86 innings.

According to Tom Gage of the Detroit News, manager Jim Leyland has no idea when Carlos Guillen (knee) will be activated from the disabled list.

Leyland said he hadn't "heard a word" when asked if Guillen would come off the DL Monday. His bruised left knee is an injury that just needs rest, and there's really no way to speed his recovery. Manager Dusty Baker said Jay Bruce (side) will sit again Sunday, according to John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

However, Baker did suggest that Bruce is likely to return sometime during a four-game series with the Rockies that begins Monday. He'll miss his fifth straight game Sunday, but the Reds aren't taking any chances with further injury as they prepare for the postseason.

Not exactly a surprise. Silva threw 78 pitches in his last rehab start with Single-A Peoria, so his unknown pitch count will likely hover around that mark. It'll be his first big league appearance since August 1.

The team is impressed with Jones' recovery so far, and they like the progress he's making. Still, he'll likely miss his ninth of the past 11 games with the shoulder injury. Jones wanted to play Saturday, but Monday now looks like a best case scenario.
